Nick Gavin
Sous Chef
Rover’s
Nick Gavin was born in the beautiful town of Whitefish, Montana near Glacier National Park. Nick’s family moved to Yakima, WA where he grew up and he graduated from Walla Walla High School in 2007. Nick’s experience in the restaurant industry began when he was 17 as a dishwasher at a destination grill in Walla Walla. One day a line cook didn’t show up for work, so he was thrown on the line to work that night and his passion for cooking developed.
In 2009 Nick graduated from the Oregon Culinary Institute and as a requirement for graduation he completed a 4-month internship program at Rover’s. After his internship, Nick went to cook at the recently opened Taberna del Alabardero in the Belltown neighborhood of Seattle. Nick made quite an impression on Chef Thierry and the then Rover’s Chef de Cuisine Adam Hoffman during his internship and when a line cook position opened up, Nick was offered the job. In 2011, Nick was promoted to Rover’s Sous Chef.
Outside of the restaurant, Nick enjoys travelling and likes to take a two week trip to a new country each year to discover new cuisine and cultures. His most recent adventure was a trip to Spain where he did stages in kitchens in Madrid and San Sebastian.
